Feathers are magical and symbolic to many cultures, especially indigenous tribes. Birds have long been considered messengers from the gods. Many cultures view feathers as sacred and use them in rituals or to honor ancestors.
Feathers have many spiritual connections and symbolism, such as hope and renewal, personal transformation, and messages from loved ones. In many traditions finding a feather indicates a positive changes or new beginnings.
Feather Use in Rituals
Feathers have been used in rituals for centuries. Smudging is the practice of burning herbs and using feathers to cleanse the energy around us. The feather is used to waft the cleansing smoke around the body, the room or items that need cleaning. The feather represents air in the medicine wheel.
Custom Designed Art
All my feather art is made from turkey feathers, allowed hunting bird feathers or from my own chickens. I raise chickens for their eggs, for their delightful colored feathers, and as my emotional support friends (yes, they make great farm friends). I custom design the feather piece to match the spiritual requests or needs of my clients.
